Stitching for Charity, Nancy’s Angels

We we worked this summer knitting these kits.  Children’s hats with cute stuffed animals on top.  These are donated to two elementary schools in our community.   These schools have a high percentage of disadvantaged families. The children don’t have basics like a warm hat for winter mornings.

I spy a Bronco hat too.  Hopefully one true fan will want it!

  1. Good works! We (Vancouver BC) do not get as chilly as you do there, though it dips below freezing a few days. Last year was an exception – we had weeks of snow and ice, very rare for us. I got in the habit of buying socks and mitts/gloves and giving them out on my way to work, or at intersections, where a lot of homeless people panhandle at the stopped traffic. Given our favourable climate here, our city is a destination for the homeless. We have the worst real estate/rental prices in North America so it is very hard to find housing here. It is so important to pay heed to this – as they say, a society should be judged on how it treats its less fortunate. Thanks for the likes! 🙂

    1. Thank you for reading and commenting. I used to be leery of the homeless. Then I heard about a woman becoming homeless because of her breast cancer. I was in my treatments and I realized how fortunate I was and how close any of us are to being homeless. My wake up call, yikes! Sounds like a good blog post huh?
