We we worked this summer knitting these kits. Children’s hats with cute stuffed animals on top. These are donated to two elementary schools in our community. These schools have a high percentage of disadvantaged families. The children don’t have basics like a warm hat for winter mornings.
I spy a Bronco hat too. Hopefully one true fan will want it!

Good works! We (Vancouver BC) do not get as chilly as you do there, though it dips below freezing a few days. Last year was an exception – we had weeks of snow and ice, very rare for us. I got in the habit of buying socks and mitts/gloves and giving them out on my way to work, or at intersections, where a lot of homeless people panhandle at the stopped traffic. Given our favourable climate here, our city is a destination for the homeless. We have the worst real estate/rental prices in North America so it is very hard to find housing here. It is so important to pay heed to this – as they say, a society should be judged on how it treats its less fortunate. Thanks for the likes! 🙂
Thank you for reading and commenting. I used to be leery of the homeless. Then I heard about a woman becoming homeless because of her breast cancer. I was in my treatments and I realized how fortunate I was and how close any of us are to being homeless. My wake up call, yikes! Sounds like a good blog post huh?
