October is My Birthday Month! And Birthday Haiku.

October is my birthday month.  Since I am a rescue  Mom does not have an exact date.  I get treats and toys all month.  Well this is true of months that aren’t even my birthday month.

I am one year old now and today is my last day of puppy food.  Mom has been mixing it with big boy food and it is almost gone.

My birthday Haiku.

  • I am a big boy
  • so why am I still crated
  • when Mom is at work?

This Week’s Extreme Dog Treats!

Hi!  Roscoe, Monty and Henry here with a guest blog post.

This weeks extreme dog treats?

Duck and cherry biscuits, dried duck feet, bully stick and dried rabbit ears.

The rabbit ears still have the fur on them!  Mom calls this fiber.

And because of the fall season cranberry turkey wings and pumpkin turkey rolls, yummy.

See you in a week!

First Emergency Vet Visit

Henry here with a guest post about my first emergency vet visit.

I am a rescue. They don’t know much about me but my dog Mom was rescued too and she definitely had a lot of Boxer in her.

Human Mom learned that Boxers had a lot of eye issues and when she got home tonite and saw my eye like this she freaked out, threw me in the car and took me to the Emergency Vet!  I mean really threw me in the car!!!

Turns out no scratch on my eye, looks like a bug bite, likely a stupid wasp which Monty has taught me to chase and try to eat.

I was sweet until I got suspicious and then was a real stinker and would not let them fit me for something called the cone of shame…

They gave up and gave me a large cone of shame and wished my human Mom good luck with getting it on me 😈.

Roscoe and Monty are excited because the emergency vet prescribed Benadryl for the swelling and they think it’ll make me sleep and pester them less.

The real reason I went to the emergency vet was because I heard human Mom say it was time for me to get something called neutered which sounds horrible.  Roscoe and Monty actually have been extra tolerant of me because of neutering in my future.  Now Mom says I used my neutering money for an emergency and neutering will be postponed until next month which is my birthday month….   Happy birthday to me?

Today’s Haiku for Terry, Gary and Roxy

Our church has an area where you light a candle for your concern or celebration. The rest of the congregation doesn’t know what your candle is for, but they pray with you to honor your request.

This is a simple haiku for a fellow blogger, his partner and their companion that came to me at candle lighting today.

  • live in the moment
  • a gallantly fought journey
  • destination near

A daily reminder from my companions that living in the moment is truly important.

Today’s Haiku

Roscoe

Hi! Roscoe here with today’s guest blog post and Haiku.

When Mom adopted me they told her I was found alone on the streets of Trinidad, a puppy of less than 6 weeks and starving.

I sometimes get scared of things I can’t see and Mom is real patient and loving with me when this happens.

Stormy weather.  Hate it.  I can feel the electricity in the air.  The room closes in on me, pressing me on all sides, choking me.

I can smell the lightning before it strikes, a smell like Mom scrubbing the sink.  Clean but scary, knowing what comes next.

Rolling thunder heard from miles away, louder and louder causing me to pant in fear.  Thunder I can feel in my bones bringing that horrible trembling that I can’t control.

Wind threatening to pick up the house and carry us all away.

  • darkness approaching
  • terrible unknown evil
  • trees bowing in fear
  • darkness descending
  • the pack howls in agony
  • sharp crack and bright light
  • darkness replaced by stillness
  • my once racing heart now yearns
  • hopes for quiet peace

Henry 9 months

Henry here!   I am nine months old now and boy do I love to chew….  A few days ago Mom was not waking up to feed me breakfast so I went shopping.

I figured out how to open a dresser drawer!  And it was full of stretchy chewy stuff.  I carefully chose one, I take shopping seriously🐶

Mom leaves us alone two nights a week to do something called swimming and deep water aerobics🏊‍♀️  She meets my Auntie Sandy there and they both wear stretchy chewy stuff.

I carefully took something called a price tag off and not so carefully started chewing.  This keeps my teeth clean and my jaws strong.  Then I heard the dreaded words “Henry are you shopping? What are you doing?  What where you thinking?”

Fortunately Auntie Sandy is a quilter and had the tools to rescue me from this adventure.  Heck Mom you can’t even tell where the repair is!

(and it got Mom up to feed me breakfast!)
