Presence and intent

A great way to start the week, with a new list of really important tasks!

As I stumbled to the coffee pot the white board on the refrigerator stopped me. The white board is the white shiny surface with multiple color markers like the ones you see hanging in corporate offices. In the office you might see the agency vision, the strategy and all the plans for the company to prosper or meet its mission.

On my white board you typically will see the “to-do” list which easily can have 16-25 tasks that should be accomplished before Monday. As I thought about it I felt angy because we can spend all week scheduling moving from one appointment or task to another. Many of us experience 8-10 hours a days and 5 days a week without fail. We drone from one task to another to another, sipping as much coffee or coke as possible to make it through the day.

Today, I grabbed a napkin, got it wet…

Make My Day NOT! Outback Steakhouse

image Since becoming a widow recently I often find myself eating out alone.

This is not a problem because I love to people watch and I make up stories about everyone sitting around me and the waitstaff.

Out running errands yesterday and after donating blood the day before I had a sudden hunger for something beefy like a rare steak.

Outback Steakhouse, hadn’t been there for years and couldn’t remember why I never want to eat there ….

I don’t ever go into a restaurant when I’m eating alone during their peak hours.  I don’t like taking up the table just by myself. It was about three in the afternoon perfect nonpeak hours.

I looked around as I walked in and saw that they were not busy at all. I was taken to a table where I read the dessert menu, the drink menu, read about each one of their salads, read about all of their steaks and entrées, still had not seen a staff person.

Well I take that back about a dozen staff people had walked past me, I could see one talking on a cell phone, a couple were just doing side work. A few glanced at me but didn’t bother to say anything.

Yikes!  Up until that point I was just bored.  Now I was annoyed. Got up and as I was leaving I told the hostess that no one had even spoken to me.   She stared blankly at me I don’t think she even remembered seating me earlier.

Well now I remember why I don’t eat at Outback Steakhouse!

But if I ever want to write a post about being invisible I’ve got lots of experience now.    Thank you for that Outback Steakhouse but “Make my Day”? Not!

Tears as Prayer

Thank you Leslie for this inspiring prayer. I’m going to have a good day!

Praying for Eyebrowz

i pray,
Father, forgive me for my sins.
i pray,
Father, thank you for these blessings.
i pray,
Father, let me be my best self today.
i pray,
Father, please protect the ones i love.
i pray,
Father, guide us through these times.
i pray,
Father, my words are inadequate.
i pray,
Father, my tears will say what i cannot.
i pray,
Father, I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, your son.

“The Blanket” – Little HandMade Prayers Crocheted Together……

What an awesome project! Love it!!

Squares for ArtWalk……become a beautiful blanket consisting of knitted and crocheted CareSquares in different kinds of yarn and in an array of colors and textures. All the squares are crocheted together and finished with a beautiful crocheted trim around the whole blanket enveloping the warmth of all the squares.

There is a lot of love in each of these squares, along with the courage it takes for these women to conquer something new, the peace and healing that follows when they fall into a rhythm with their hands and their hearts. The joy and laughter and shared stories that arise when we sit in this room together for this one single hour. All this transcends into the square, and then connecting them all together… all the different women, all the different yarns, all the different colors, all the different textures……into one…..blanket.

Little Handmade Prayers all bundled up together for someone to lay…

“You are loved”

What a great idea. These hearts are going to make a lot of people smile!

yarn in the park

“The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
    The skies display his craftsmanship.
 Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.”

(Psalm 19 – The Bible)
Creation shouts out to us that we are loved – the daffodils dancing in the wind, the tiny petals of the forget-me-nots….the gift of all that spring brings.
I have spent the last few weeks preparing for today, Good Friday.
The result of this preparation is this:
30 plus crocheted hearts, which are now placed within the grounds of Heavitree Park (which for me has become my art/craft gallery over the last few months).
I have deliberated over and over again about what to write for this post on a day that for me has great significance, and is something that I want to share with you. So here it is:

God loves you!!

It’s as…

Flavor of the day-Mindful Monday.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Local Flavor.”

choc cherryIn Milwaukee Wisconsin there is one local flavor that has in its own right become a Milwaukee local flavor of the day. It is the most unusual daily experience of its kind that attracts hundreds of people through our fine city. There is no seasonality to this experience even on frigid days of our frozen, snowy winter tundra.

What is this 1950’s born local flavor?

It’s Milwaukee’s own Kopp’s Custard. What makes this so popular is its exotic, classic, rich and creamy flavor of the day. This homemade egg custard filled with many chunky flavors and comes directly from the custard machine onto your cone.

The flavor of the day tantalizes your existence. On Milwaukee;s major freeway you can watch the billboard sign change daily touting what today’s flavor will bring. It could be traditional flavors like red raspberry, carmel…
