SomePlace Else Brewery

I love to support local businesses.

This little brewery is right in my neighborhood.  Yummy beer and friendly atmosphere.  A place I can take my sketchbook to draw and feel safe if I go alone.  Doggies are welcome but I can’t decide which of my boys to take, they are all stinkers and would pester the other customers for attention and treats.

Here is the deal:

Of course I purchased my membership, I am number 56 (born in 1956).

They have pinball, skee ball and a whole bunch of games for kids.  Bring your own food.  Check out bingo night, trivia night or one of their other crazy nights.

How about open mic night?

Origami Flower Bouquets for ICU and Infusion Center

When I asked the ladies who run the oncology infusion centers for ideas for more ways to reach their patients they both shared a wish for some help for critical patients.  These patients have been admitted to the hospital and because of compromised immune systems they cannot receive flowers!

My friend Seth is a master origami artist and volunteered to help me make these Bouquets!  The butterflies were given to me by another friend Janice.

We hope to bring a little joy!

I wish we could donate these awesome folding boxes Seth make but they take him six hours to create….

Skyline Chili Oyster Crackers?

My brother lives in Skyline Chile country and got me hooked on the stuff.  Thankfully he keeps me well supplied with regular deliveries.

Okay.  Skyline Chili Oyster Crackers are not your regular saltines.  I tell you there is something about them!   So I’m having some homemade beef and barley soup tonight and I open up my latest shipment of Skyline Chili Crackers and somethings not right…

I think I am paranoid!

I think these crackers are crisper and browner and just not the same!

I google it and my paranoia is confirmed!

Skyline Chili has a new oyster cracker baker.  (Say that three times as fast as you can!)

Read about it here.

I google more and find this!

Yikes, is nothing sacred?

Skyline Chili Contest Missed!

image

In September last year there was a contest for free Skyline Chile for one year.  Was I told about this? No!  Here is the proof of the contest: Link to contest !

I confess I have an addiction for Skyline Chili, thanks to my brother who lives right in the neighborhood and can eat the stuff whenever he wants!  Here is the three way, to die for, but my brother eats salads!

Granted my brother keeps me stocked up with regular  shipments of Skyline Chili, and he is a healthy eater and Skyline Chili may not be on his diet and oh my gosh I making excuses for my brother!

Anyway I missed out on my chance to win a free year’s supply of Skyline Chili (never mind that I never win anyway when I enter these contests).

Double granted my brother would’ve had to eat a lot of Skyline Chili to win me a years free supply.   Family sacrifice right?

What! Don’t know what Skyline Chili is?  A truly regional delicacy.

2-way – layer of spaghetti noodles topped with Skyline Chili.

3-way – layer of spaghetti noodles, Skyline Chili topped with cheddar cheese.

4-way – layer of noodles, Skyline Chili, cheese and chopped raw onions.

5-way – layer of noodles, Skyline Chili, cheese, red beans and onions.

The Colorado girl’s version of a yummy Skyline Chili experience?

Skyline Chili Frito pie. See you later off to the store for Fritos!

( I also can’t resist a smothered Skyline Chili hot dog with random toppings.)

The Mystery of Marley

Roscoe, Monty and Henry here with a true story.

We have a cousin named Marley who is surrounded by a deep mystery.

Late one evening, it was close to Christmas, our Uncle Den and Auntie Kris returned home from a people outing with friends.

As the opened the door they could hear some not human noises.  They crept carefully into their home (we might have done this different).  In the center of the entryway floor sat a large crate, the noise was coming from this crate.  They slowly approached the crate and peered in. (Does this really seem wise and safe?)

Not to fear!  Inside was the cutest puppy ever, our cousin Marley.

That is when the big fight broke out.  The deal was no more puppies and they accused each other of bringing a puppy home.  (People are not very smart, they were together all evening so a third human had to have brought that puppy into their home.)

Well they couldn’t kick a puppy into the street so they decided to keep him until they could decide what to do with him.  One day turned into two, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and Marley has been there now for years.

Auntie and Uncle never did figure out the giver of Marley had to have a key to the house….  Us dogs can keep a secret and we won’t ever tell.

P.S.  Our Mom really had nothing to do with the Marley mystery but because she is our Mom so she does know who the culprit is and has promised not to tell.  Don’t keep secrets from your Mom.

Redefined by Cancer

Yay!  What a relief to get good results from a mammogram!

Some days I feel like I am on a roller coaster.  I have been waiting at the highest point of that roller coaster for over a week for the result.  Anxiety building. Today I coasted down the tracks, an exhilarating and happy ride to the bottom.  Anxiety gone!

Happy weekend!
