Another vet visit!

Henry 2-2018

The last time I was at the vet it was the emergency vet when my mom came home and my eye was fat.

Yesterday I was at my regular vet for a check up and something called booster shots. I had a lot of fun listening to sounds on the other side of the doorway.  I met a standard size poodle and a huge sable colored German Shepard.

Dr. Lindsay  commented several times on how muscular I was.   Mom told her it was because I was always jumping on my brothers.   Dr. said I had good clean teeth, clear eyes and a great coat.   She gave me lots of treats in pronounced me healthy!

Better than a fat eye!

Have a great weekend!

First Emergency Vet Visit

Henry here with a guest post about my first emergency vet visit.

I am a rescue. They don’t know much about me but my dog Mom was rescued too and she definitely had a lot of Boxer in her.

Human Mom learned that Boxers had a lot of eye issues and when she got home tonite and saw my eye like this she freaked out, threw me in the car and took me to the Emergency Vet!  I mean really threw me in the car!!!

Turns out no scratch on my eye, looks like a bug bite, likely a stupid wasp which Monty has taught me to chase and try to eat.

I was sweet until I got suspicious and then was a real stinker and would not let them fit me for something called the cone of shame…

They gave up and gave me a large cone of shame and wished my human Mom good luck with getting it on me 😈.

Roscoe and Monty are excited because the emergency vet prescribed Benadryl for the swelling and they think it’ll make me sleep and pester them less.

The real reason I went to the emergency vet was because I heard human Mom say it was time for me to get something called neutered which sounds horrible.  Roscoe and Monty actually have been extra tolerant of me because of neutering in my future.  Now Mom says I used my neutering money for an emergency and neutering will be postponed until next month which is my birthday month….   Happy birthday to me?

Guest blog post Roscoe: Addison’s Disease Update

image

Hi my name is Roscoe and I am a guest blogger here on sanseilife with an update on living with Addison’s disease.

When my mom rescued me from Colorado Puppy Rescue they told her that I had been found on the streets alone, at less than six weeks old.

I was skin and bones, you could see my backbones even though they had been feeding me for several days so I must’ve been really in bad shape when they found me.   Thank goodness I don’t remember much of it.

I’ve been sick a lot.  Even before my diagnosis of Addison’s disease. One thing that was strange was I never had much fur and Mom never needed to brush me.

Since I have been on my hormone replacement injections every month I’ve been feeling much better and my fur has been growing like crazy!

I haven’t let her brush me since my fur started to thicken and after over a year I was really scruffy. Because of my delicate temperament from being a stray as a young puppy mom has a soft spot and if I put my paw down she relents.

Finally she was able to talk me into a partial grooming (she let me sit in her chair while she sat on the footstool) and I let her do about one third of my body  before I got bored and put my paw  down.  She  got enough fur to make a whole new puppy  – a mini me  – a mini Roscoe!

Don’t tell mom but it actually kind of felt good until I got anxious and had to put a stop to it. I’ll probably let her do it again but  she’ll have to give me another premium treat.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to hold out for, I have pretty heavy paws  and mom is a pretty big wimp so I can get a premium treat of some kind if I keep patient.

I’ll keep you posted dear readers.

Oh by the way that’s just part of a snack on my nose not another disease!
